How To Clean White Converse Shoes

How To Clean White Converse

If you were into the street style this year, you’d know that 2020 was all about minimalistic looks. And the basic essential to completing that chic look was to wear white sneakers.

Not just any white sneakers, but the best ones – Allstars White Converse. These were the best picks of the year. They not only go with literally every outfit, but are casual and comfortable to wear, and amp up your look!

Everyone wanted to wear these shoes, but the only downside was on how to clean white converse shoes when they get dirty (which is pretty often!)

But don’t worry, if you’ve been putting off buying these white shoes due to the hassle of cleaning them, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a guide on how to clean your converse:

HACK 1 – Toss them into the Washing Machine

Washing Machine

If you’re anything like me, you’d want clean shoes but in a short time. For that, firstly, put a good amount of the detergent that you normally use in the machine.

Take out the laces from your shoes and put the laces in a laundry bag, so you can wash the laces too, without them getting stuck to the washing machine base.

Next, toss in your converse shoes. After one simple wash, you’ll see a noticeable difference, and they’ll look super clean! TIP: wash the shoes separately, don’t add any clothes in this wash.

HACK 2 – Baking Soda and Vinegar

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Take baking soda and vinegar in the ratio of 1:2, and mix them together in a bowl, so that the baking soda dissolves in the vinegar well.

Use an old toothbrush to apply the mixture on the dirty spots of your white shoes. Then scrub well on the dirt, to remove it.

Rinse your shoes after you feel like you’ve scrubbed off the dirt well, and leave them in the sunlight to dry. They’ll look good as new when they dry after a day!

HACK 3 – Lemon Juice

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has loads of citric acid and hence acts as a natural method to remove the toughest of stains. Now, you can either use store-bought lime juice, but it has less strength, due to the added preservatives. Hence I would recommend using fresh lemons and squeeze the juice out yourself!

Take a quarter cup of water and add half a cup of lemon juice, which would require around 3 lemons. Mix it in a bowl.
Take a cloth or old toothbrush and wipe the shoes, scrubbing off dirt where it has accumulated. Rinse it in cold water, and leave it out to dry.

Your shoes will look brand new by the time they dry!

HACK 4 – Toothpaste!

Toothpaste

Why do we use toothpaste to brush our teeth? That’s right, to remove plaque and impurities that begin to settle on our teeth and to whiten our stained and slightly yellow teeth.

Likewise, toothpaste can also be used on white shoes as a quick fix to remove the dirt that settles on your shoes.

Take your old toothbrush and rub toothpaste on the shoes; this will remove the toughest of stains. You are leaving your shoes spick and span.

HACK 5 – Nail Polish Remover

Nail Polish Remover

Nail polish remover contains acetone, which is alcohol that is bound to take out the toughest of stains. This method is perfect for spot removal.

All you have to do is take a cotton swab or a cotton ball and dip it into any nail polish remover that you have at home and pat it onto the stains on your converse.

Rub it to remove the depositions and let it dry. And voila! Your shoes have no more spots remaining.

HACK 6 – Bleach

Bleach

This method is to clean the entire shoe. You’ll have to take a bucket, large enough to fit both your shoes.

Fill the bucket with water, enough to fully drown both your shoes in and add a slight amount of bleach, mixing it well with a stick, forming a mixture.

Throw in the laces separately and then dip the shoes, take them out and scrub off any hard stains with an old cloth, then dip them into the bucket again. Repeat this until all the dirt spots have loosened and been scrubbed off.

Then leave the shoes in a fresh bucket of water. Take them out after an hour and let the shoes dry in the sunlight.
And there you have it, shoes good as new!

Now heading into 2020, don’t hesitate in finally buying those white shoes and be on top of your style game this year!

You now know that you’re good to go with the best hacks on cleaning your white converse shoes, so you won’t have to worry about them always being dirty and ruining your outfit. Happy styling!
